Since I use LineageOS for microG I needed a replacement for the Google Find My Device service. I have found a nifty way to send my phone’s location to my PC without using a cloud based service. I use the open source android app GPSLogger to log the GPS coordinates at specified intervals to a file on my phone. I sync this file to my PC using the open source tool Syncthing which I also use for syncing my photos and my passwords from my password manager between devices. Its really easy to setup since it doesn’t require a self hosted server. With that, I can find my phone and Google can’t find me.
